It’s no secret that business success can be hugely dependent on who you know. But according to Kerryn Powell of Your Time Matters, many business owners feel uncomfortable forging relationships through “real time networking”.

“The truth is you’re actually networking every day of your life. It’s just a life skill that you need to learn and develop if you think you’re not very good at it,” Kerryn states.

This August Kerryn will host a “How to network effectively” session as part of the Small Business Skills Summit, and will focus on providing businesses with key strategies to prepare and plan for networking events, including follow-up.

“In real time networking is a great way to grow your business and develop like and trust very quickly,” she said. “But so many opportunities are missed because people just forget that last step.”

Kerryn works with business professionals and groups wanting to network in real time more effectively, taking conversations from “awkward” to “awesome”, deepening relationships that will open up opportunities and making networking more effective and enjoyable.

Kerryn takes the spotlight on August 8 as part of the Small Business Skills Summit that features over 60 presenters and spans 11 days.

Unlike traditional small business conferences, the Skills Summit doesn’t require participants to attend multi-day events or guru-style seminars.

Instead, it allows the skills relevant to your business to be delivered direct to your inbox, with the 60 presenters offering valuable insight, all delivering their expertise online. Attendees can take advantage of the live presentations to ask questions directly afterwards, or view the content at their leisure for three months following the event.

Linda Reed-Enever is the founder of Business Business Business, an online resources and networking community which initiated the summit, and she says the format of the summit was designed to meet business needs.

“We know small businesses are busy and chances are owners don’t have the time or budget to participate in lengthy, location-based events.”

“That’s why the Skills Summit offers access online, and participants can pick and choose the items that interest them”

“With topics ranging from business figures to business mindset and marketing, there’s something for everyone in the small business realm.”
