[Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia] – In the few days since its launch the Human Ingenuity awards have already garnered nominations from all corners of the globe. From large corporations, two small family businesses and social enterprises all adapting to navigate the turbulent waters of the pandemic .
The competition, launched by local Australian training provider The Future Work Skills Academy, is an effort to spotlight positive cases of humans employing their unique skills to pivot, reinvent and thrive during the COVID-19 crisis. According to Donna Eiby, Founder and Academic Director of the Academy the Competition was her way of managing the emotional toll of the crisis: ‘As a positive person COVID 19 really got under my skin and I felt the need to do something that was open to anyone and that highlighted our creative and resilient nature as a species.’
As the only training provider in the world delivering learning programs in these skills the Academy knows that models are one of the best ways to learn how to empathise, create, problem frame and problem solve. The Competition is an ideal way to make this a reality.
The 21st century continues to see an exponential rise in the speed of change. We now permanently inhabit a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous world.
Not since World War Two have we faced a global crisis of this magnitude. History proves that organisations with cultures who value and foster novel and adaptive thinking thrive in global disruption. Even without disruption enterprises that can adapt are growing 3.2 times faster than their competitors. Now more than ever Novel and Adaptive Thinking is key to both surviving and thriving.
According to Silicon Valley-based Skills Coach CJ Mills ‘situational adaptability and mental flexibility are THE keys for navigating a COVID-19 world. The good news is that these are natural human skills; everyone has them and everyone can learn to use them for the betterment of themselves, their families, communities and the world’.
