Supporting women in the trades and services industry is the driving force behind the brand owner and creator, Liv Thwaites’s passion and commitment to providing comfortable, safe and stylish workwear specifically design for women.
The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show is an exciting exhibition which is set to amaze, delight and inspire it’s 100,000 visitors this March. The international event brings a multitude of exclusive and immersive experiences for the whole family. Activities include viewing magnificent garden and floral installations, face painting, participating in interactive workshops, twilight shopping, high tea and some photo booth fun.
‘Last year we launched the first SKNY Flex Navy Blue pant and it has been so popular we’ve worked hard to launch it’s ‘sister’ Khaki option at our favourite event of the year. Since launching our first skinny leg style that features an innovative knee pad feature our Tradie Lady customers have been loving the durability and versatility of the trouser. We’re thrilled to offer another colour range option launching at MIFGS.’
For centuries, women have had no other option but to wear uncomfortable, ill-fitting workwear, but now there’s an alternative for women working in the trades – Green Hip Workwear for Women now provides women more options then ever before.
Locally based in Geelong, Liv Thwaites – the mastermind of Green Hip, is a qualified horticulturist, entrepreneur and business owner who used to attend the annual event as a visitor with hopes of one day showcasing her workwear to fellow spectators. After years of product development and learning the ropes of the rag trade, Liv launched Green Hip in 2010. Since launching the business has grown to supply 30 stockists, thousands online orders and supply multiple councils and government agencies around Australia.
Liv has been able to achieve a great fit and style largely due to the unique cotton/stretch drill fabric she has chosen to work with as well as her personal experience with workwear that simply would not fit.
‘After working as a professional horticulturist, I created Green Hip out of sheer frustration in having to wear ill-fitting mens workwear. Many of Green Hip’s customers have had to face this situation and it’s a common story how deflated and sad women feel when allocated workwear that simply wasn’t made for their gender. ‘
With some new styles and colours launched mid last year, Liv is looking forward to launching her new colour range of the brands top selling Pants SKNY Flex style at this years MIFGS.
‘Our customers absolutely loved our new Khaki shorts, Hi-Vis, and Cargo style pants which we have specifically launched at MIFGS. We like to give our loyal customers the opportunity to see our new products first hand at the flower show. It’s an exciting event to be a part of!’. Says Liv
Liv, with her Sales Manager and team of volunteers will have changing rooms again this year, which were running hot for the majority of the time the shop was open last year. They will also be preparing for the show and re-locating all of their stock to Melbourne so the shop will be fully stocked.
‘We absolutely love interacting with our customers and hearing their feedback. I thrive on feedback, and there is nothing better than seeing a new customer try on my workwear and breathe a sigh of relief because it actually fits. Green Hip exists because there simply wasn’t any workwear that remotely fitted my lady curves. It is very rewarding to see my customers with the biggest smile when they leave our shop.’ Says Liv
Green Hip’s store location is A37 for the duration of the show from Wednesday 27th – Sunday 31st March at the Melbourne Royal Exhibition Building & Carlton Gardens.
